Palace of Versailles

The palace of Versailles is a building that has a high cultural value having a great amount of French art with beautiful and luxury decoration like the vases, curtains, statues and paintings.

The vases are of different shapes, colors and draws around them, also there is a vase that includes dogs surround.

The long curtains are of different colors like red, purple and blue, they give the aspect of a high-class mansion.

Most of the statues are of people posing full length, others grabbing a pillar that has chandeliers, or just statues with the upper part of the body.

There are paintings with different topics and most of them are realistic using the adequate combination of colors and shadows, for instance we can see paintings where there are people of the nobility that usually are surrounded of angels showing that they are near to god; The battle of Aboukir is about the war showing how powerful and calmed are the soldiers of one band against worried soldiers that fear the death; The Coronation of the Emperor and Empress where the coronation of Napoleon is taking place, it seems they are doing the ceremony for the title; however not all is about the life of the nobility for instance on The sacrifice of Iphigenia that is about the mythology we can see that the goddess Diana of hunting, forests and springs is saving Iphigenia that was going to be in sacrifice to ensure that the ships that were going to Troy can complete its path. There are some portraits of high class’ people for example of Marie Antoinette the queen of France in 1787 with her children or the king Luis XIV with his long clothes and showing his elegancy.

In conclusion the palace of Versailles is a great place to visit and to know a little more of the art and history of France, if you have the opportunity to go, you won’t be disappointed.

Description of Dolores Olmedo Museum

The marvelous museum of Dolores Olmedo is located in Xochimilco in Mexico, it was founded in 1994, this magnificent museum reflects a part of the culture of Mexico and the art works of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
The first thing that we can see at the beginning of the museum is a group of women doing their tasks like a little community where everyone has task to do and everybody needs of the others, next to the group of women there is a jaguar lying in the floor, the vestment of the girls has a lot of black and a decoration with flowers and marks. A few steps we can observe a collection of jars and different figures in contrast with a yellow background, all of them are made of a material completely black and they have a lot of forms and figures like sirens, chickens, and some animals. Walking straight a little bit we can watch pieces of abstract art which seems to have been made of metal or some rigid material, there are a few pieces of this kind but the one that highlight is a one that is made of a lot figures mixed each other making a big sculpture of animals interlaced, the other ones are figures of a horses and a couple of women holding a bowl above their heads. A really interesting hall, is one that reflects an allegory for the death and the Mexican culture, in this hall we can found a ceiling ornamented, with traditional Mexican flags commonly seen in festivities like as the “dia de muertos”, also we can see sculptures of colorful skeletons celebrating like if they were alive, we can visualize more traditional figures that represent Mexico like a couple of colorful bulls and figures of alebrijes flying around the hall, at the end of the hall we can see demon masks, deities masks, and the common jaguar masks.

Dolores Olmedo is a great place to visit that represent the Mexican Culture which has rescue master pieces of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo given to the visitor a magnificent travel to the minds of these two characters.
